Everyone deserves the chance to build a brighter financial future. Loqbox member Dr Nicola Harding’s story shows how small steps can make a huge impact.
At 28, Nicola left a financially abusive relationship with no bank account or credit history. To add to this, loans had been taken out in her name, damaging her credit score.
Determined to reclaim her future, Nicola turned to Loqbox. By making small, regular payments, she steadily rebuilt her credit without taking on extra debt. “What I like about Loqbox is that it helps you take control and ensures you’re not held accountable for things that weren’t your fault,” she says.
Genevieve Richardson, Senior Public Policy Advocate at StepChange Debt Charity, underscores the enduring impact of economic abuse:
“For victim-survivors of economic abuse, in addition to the emotional impact, the financial effects last for years after the abuse is over. Often, people feel trapped in a situation not of their own making which has knock-on effects on their ability to access housing, jobs, and affordable credit. That is why the support that victim-survivors of economic abuse get from their creditors and specialist support services is key to them regaining financial control and stability. Organisations like Money Advice Plus, in partnership with Surviving Economic Abuse, offer support and guidance to victim-survivors who are struggling to manage their money, including advice on debt, budgeting and banking.”
Now CEO of We Fight Fraud, Nicola’s inspiring transformation proves that with the right tools and support, financial setbacks don’t have to define your future.
